DATABASE CLEANSING

We always make sure that any database we use has been checked through the TPS system – The Telephone Preference Service is a free service. It is the official central opt out register on which people can record their preference not to receive unsolicited sales or marketing calls. It is a legal requirement that all organisations (including charities, voluntary organisations and political parties) do not make such calls to numbers registered on the TPS unless they have consent to do so.

We also try to ensure that any database we are given is clean. What we mean by clean is that the data within is up-to-date and contains records that have been verified.

All too often, we find that companies have bought lists of people that they think may be interested in the product or service, and when we have come to use the list, discovered that the data contains old or irrelevant information. One of the services we offer is to cleanse databases. It certainly pays off as there is nothing worse than making a call and being told “so and so doesn’t work here anymore!”

Not all companies buy data – some companies have lists that they have built up from active marketing either through their website or a landing page, but even this type of collected data can sometimes be out-of-date or contain fake email addresses or telephone numbers.

It certainly doesn’t hurt to ‘wash’ the data and ensure it is worth using.

If you have a database that you’d like us to look at, please get in touch and we will be happy to look at what you have and give you a quote.
